What is an Indian Head Massage

The traditional art of Indian Head Massage is based upon the ancient system of medicine known as Ayurveda, which is still practised in India today. Indian Head massage is becoming increasingly popular in the UK. The routine and techniques are designed to work between the head, back, neck, face and upper arms. Although it has many benefits, the majority of clients seek Indian Head Massage to enable them to manage stress levels and built up tension. The Ayurvedic approach to health is the balance of body, mind and spirit, and the promotion of long life.

What are the Effects and Benefits?

The techniques involved provide outstanding benefits. It is a truly holistic therapy in that it has many physiological and psychological benefits and can balance the whole body, these benefits include:
Increases blood flow in head, neck and shoulders - which improves circulation, the delivery of oxygen and nutrients and removal of waste.
Increased lymphatic flow - aids the elimination of accumulated toxins in the body, and stimulates immunity
Relaxes the muscles and nerve fibres - relieves muscular tension and fatigue, improves posture and increases flexibility. Can reduce tension headaches and aches & pains
Decreases inflammation in the tissues - providing pain relief
Decreases stimulation of the sympathetic nervous system, slows down breathing, reduces blood pressure, stress and anxiety.
Improves circulation to the skin and hair - encouraging cell regeneration
Increase circulation to the scalp - promoting healthy hair growth, and improves the condition of the skin and hair
Relaxes and soothes tense eye muscles - relieving tired eyes
Increase oxygen to the brain - promoting clearer thinking, improved concentration and increases productivity.
Stimulates the relief of endorphins from the brain - which helps relieve pain, emotional stress and repressed feelings. Can elevate the mood, helping depression
Encourages the release of stagnant energy and restores the energy flow to the body - creating a feeling of balance and calm
