What is Reiki?
At the end of the 19th Century, a healing method was rediscovered in ancient Sanskrit texts by a Japanese scholar, Mikaomi Usui. He called it Reiki, pronounced ray key, a Japanese word meaning Universal Life Energy. Reiki was taken to America during the 1940’s.
Tera Mai™ & Seichem Approach
This is a very powerful system of healing developed by Kathleen Milner, an American artist, teacher and author of Reiki and Other Rays of Touch Healing and Tera, My Journey Home.
Seichem, pronounced say keem, is reputedly one of the healing arts practised in ancient Egypt. In the Tera-Mai™ system, Reiki is an element of Seichem.
As Teri-Mai™ healing is energy channelling; it has no association with any religion, faith, or belief system and can be received by anyone who is willing to be healed. Healing can be given in a hands-on-treatment and can also be sent across time and space to people, situations plants and animals.

Reiki Practitioners often say that one hour of Reiki is the equivalent of three to four hours deep relaxing sleep and Reiki is one of the most effective natural stress relief and health improvement therapies available.
How Do I Become A Reiki Practitioner?
In order to channel these healing energies, you must be attuned to them by a Tera-Mai™ Master. Being attuned to the elemental healing rays accelerates your personal and spiritual growth and development.
Tera-Mai™ is a system of standardised attunements so as to ensure the quality of the energy transfer. Only a Master entitled to use the Teri-Mai trademark can pass on the full energy and purity of these attunements.
In order to assimilate the energies, the attunements are taken in 3 stages, which are referred to as degrees.
Level 1 – Tera-Mai/Seichem Certificate (Introduction)
- First Degree - You will be individually attuned to the healing energies and taught how to work on yourself and others. This workshop includes your level 1 Tera-Mai manual and official Tera Mai Reiki 1 Certificate on completion. During the day you will cover the following topics:
o The History of Reiki
o Reiki & Healing
o Holistic Healthcare
o Energy & Healing
o Chakras
o Hand positioning
o Treatments for self-healing
o Treatments for others
o Treatments for specific issues
- Second Degree – This enables you to channel stronger energy more quickly. You are introduced to the symbols and taught how to send healing through time and space. This workshop includes your level 2 Tera-Mai manual and official Tera Mai Reiki 2 Certificate on completion. During the day you will cover the following topics:
o Chakra Meditation
o Healing Meditation
o Meeting Your Reiki Guide
o Tera-Mai 2nd degree symbols
o Long distance healing
o Reiki treatment procedure 2nd degree
o Tera-Mai Reiki attunement
Level 3 – Tera-Mai/Seichem Master Certificate (Master Level)
- Third Degree – This is Mastership level and is a very powerful initiation. Many experience greater spiritual and psychic awareness as a result. Further details of this level will be discussed with your tutor during the course
